2006 Bid for District Court
On February 15, 2006, in an effort to help bring about a broader vision of the North Carolina Court system, Susan E. Wilson filed her candidacy for District Court Judge in Buncombe County. Ms. Wilson opposed incumbent appointee, Sharon Tracy Barrett, in a non-partisan election on November 7, 2006. Judge Barrett, who was appointed by Governor Easley in December to fill the vacancy left by former Judge Peter Roda's retirement, won the November election by a narrow margin. The 2006 election was Susan's second bid for the judicial bench.
2006-2007 President of NCAWA
Susan was elected to serve as President of the Asheville Chapter of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys for the 2006-2007 fiscal term. Susan's presidency was a bit overshadowed by her bid for the judicial seat, but the year was not uneventful.
